Just a note to let you know that I will be on a short break and not posting for a few days. You can always send me convos through my etsy shop, too.

Robert Kaufman Hit the Trail fabric in my esty shop

I’m from Texas, so naturally I love cowboys (especially when they wear Wranglers, but this blog is about crafting and vintage, not all that naughty stuff) Anyway, my favorite cowboy image is often portrayed on fabric, like this Robert Kaufman piece I just found yesterday! I’ll soon be visiting the folks back home, so will be showing some other cowboy related crafts as I prepare to hit the trail!

It wouldn’t matter if there were chocolate covered ants inside, as long as they come in a fancy vintage candy box! The more elaborate – the better.  Heck, forget the chocolates and just give me the empty box. I’m still building my own collection and don’t have any to sell, so I found another shop on etsy that has several and have pictured just a few here.  Check it out

Wear your heart on your hand. Say I love you with four scrabble tile rings spelling out LOVE – or any other 4 letter word you prefer….

Think text messaging is new? No way! The New England Candy Company (NECCO) actually began printing messages on candy back in the 1860’s. Today they even have an iPhone App and offer recipes and crafts. Visit their fun site at

I made the ring below using a realistic –  but  reproduction-  Sweetheart tile that looks good enough to eat. The glossyred button background is mounted on an adjustable silver finished ring band. The most fun valentine gift ever! I’ll even ship it in a heart shaped ring box!

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary.

For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door –
Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as `Nevermore.’

“The Raven”  by Edgar Allen Poe

Today marks the 165th anniversary of the first publishing of  Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven“. In case you don’t want to do the math, the year was 1845. Poe’s poem has influenced the work of artists and crafters worldwide and the  image of the massive black bird can be found on everything from canvas to clothes, and pottery to pendants.  Here are three favorite raven items currently for sale on etsy (and one pendant I made myself)- posted today as a tribute to Poe’s famous work.
